For The week of April 1st, Bible College students returned to the Hawaii Public Housing Authority (Low income housing) to assist the maintanence staff with community upkeep. The guys kept busy and broke a sweat by removing old furniture and prepping three units. Dean Sacramed, the staff supervisor expressed to me that our contribution not only has saved HPHA thousands of dollars but we are doing a work that would otherwise have been postponed another three months. By cleaning these units we are able to get needy families into a better living condition and family friendly enviroment.
Unfortunately not all families are success stories at HPHA. One unit that we helped clean had been left vacant for nearly two months so that the unit would be safe to enter. The family had a history of drug abuse, several members had been diagnosed with HIV and hepatitis. Prior to being evicted many of the students had befriended the two youngest children and were able to give them love and friendship that the family had not offered. We are covering this community with prayers, please keep them in your prayers as well. Pray that we will boldy share the gospel and be effective witnesses for the gospel of Jesus Christ as we practically serve these people.
