God has blessed us with an awesome housing arrangement for the female students. As many of you can imagine it is not easy to convince a home owner to rent out a house to 10 women at a time. So in light of that we started looking for bigger places that did not have as a great of an appeal on the general housing market.
We found the Wailua Care Home. Up until three years ago it was used as a long term care facility. The owners have had it on the market for a while through different agents. It is a very difficult place to sell because of its location and very narrow use. We contacted the latest agent (who happens to attend the church) and had him work out a one year lease. In the end we have a much larger facility than we had anticipated at a much lower cost then we had expected to pay.
There are two large wings centered on the property. The downstairs wings are mirror images of each other with six rooms down each hall. The upstairs of one building is a three bedroom apartment, and the other wing has an attached caretakers unit with another three rooms. Supposedly there are 19 bedrooms, but we have not found number 19 yet. The parking lot can accommodate up to 10 vehicles.
As many of you can imagine this is a huge blessing and way bigger than anything we could have needed for this semester. It gives us the ability to bring in many more female students than we anticipated.
